For many hundreds of generations, the Jedi Knights have been the guardians of peace and justice in the Republic.
A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away: A beginning is a very delicate time. The War Against Zakuul has ended. It was brought to a close by the Jedi Knight once known as the Hero of Tython and the alliance he cobbled together. The Galactic Republic now faces off against that old, familiar adversary. The Sith Empire. The Third Galactic War has started and the battles between the darkness and the light have resumed with all of their destructive power. The most precious in the galaxy is the ability to wield the Force. The Force binds all. It can be a great ally, or a terrible enemy. The Jedi Order and its Knights wield the Force to serve the Republic. The Sith Order uses it to rule their Empire.
The Jedi Order, much like the Republic as a whole, is desperate to gather its strength; to train and rebuild on their ancestral home on Tython. They know, as the Sith do, that the war is extremely hard to win, but so easy to lose if they slip up for even a moment.
(( Our guild exists concurrently with the events of the game, but not necessarily in the same time-frame described by the developers. For us, it is approximately 29 years after the Treaty of Coruscant, 3,624 before the Battle of Yavin. The Galactic Republic has come out of the War Against Zakuul, where the Jedi Knight known also as the Hero of Tython became the Eternal Commander. Since then the Republic has entered the Third Galactic War against the Sith Empire. The Gadani Enclave stands with the Galactic Republic, as it always has. ))
Enclaves: At this point in time, the Jedi Order exists of many enclaves. Some of these are little more than small training circles whereas others are capable of functioning as a small copy of the Jedi Order in their own right. These enclaves are governed by their own Jedi Council. Each enclave council would have a great degree of autonomy in internal affairs, but they were all answerable to the Jedi High Council, which is currently led by Jedi Grand Master Satele Shan. The Gadani Enclave is one of these enclaves, originated by master Jann Gadani. Our enclave adheres to the Jedi Code as laid down by Odan-Urr.
(( The Jedi Path guild is an enclave of the order when “in character” it is referred to as the “Gadani Enclave” – after its founder, Jedi Master Jann Gadani. The Enclave has its own Jedi Council which in turn serves the Jedi High Council. The Jedi Council of The Gadani Enclave does not sit on the Jedi High Council. ))
Jedi Code
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.
(( Our guild follows Jedi lore and instructs its members to roleplay Jedi characters.))
Archives: The Jedi Code is the first thing any Jedi should know and understand fully. As with other subjects a Jedi should know, it is explained in some length in the archives as well as many other subjects. More advanced subjects are restricted to enclave members of sufficient rank.
(( Our guild has an Archive page (link). The content was written with care, specifically for this guild. Copy-pasting is very much frowned upon. They are set up so that each rank unlocks more content. Access to subjects above Initiate rank must be granted by the webmaster. ))
PvP-RP: The enclave uses the old tried and true method to instruct the Force powers. The student are given access to the part of the archives needed for study. For lightsaber combat, the enclave has turned to the use of holocrons for instruction.
(( We are an RP community that uses say chat and emotes for most everything. The use of Force powers is emoted. For lightsaber combat, we use the game’s combat system. ))
Bonus Content: The enclave has maintained the section of the archives on lightsaber combat, but no longer requires students to read these in order to progress their lightsaber abilities. This is because all are given access to holocrons for this purpose. While study in this manner is not a requirement, there are members within the enclave that might be willing to guide those that show a great deal of enthusiasm and dedication to study in this fashion.
(( Lightsaber combat emoting is no longer a requirement for advancement in the guild. Those that are interested and enthusiastic may still be trained in emoting the various forms of lightsaber combat. It takes a considerable ammount of time and effort to learn this style of RP. And it should also be noted it takes even more to teach. As it is no longer a requirement to learn, expect potential teachers to be selective in those they would wish to train. The Bonus Content page (link) contains a number of in-depth articles that were formerly part of the normal archives. ))
News and Communication: Each member of the enclave is outfitted with a holocommunicator with which they can get in contact with others of the enclave. This is also used by the enclave’s Jedi Council to broadcast announcements. Additionally other means are used to transmit all manner of communication. The enclave’s Jedi Council uses such channels from time to time to inform its members of formal meetings where all of the enclave are to gather.
(( The officer chat is considered “in character” for long range communication. This is used for a variety of purposes. This ranges from contact between individual members, such as master and padawan, to guild announcements. For messages to the entire guild, the message of the day is also used ingame. Apart from this we have a news module on the website (link) where information can be posted and a forum (link). ))
Rules: Our enclave has its own simple rules. The rules are written for your safety and for that of your fellow enclave members. They are not flexible and must be followed.
(( We have five simple guild rules that must be followed (link). They’re there so we may all enjoy their RP and are non-negiotionable. ))
Recruitment: Every now and then, members of the Jedi Order will apply for a transfer to our enclave. Sometimes, new Jedi are assigned to our enclave coming from another part of the Jedi Order, at other times, a new initiate will appear before members of the Council. In both cases the records have to be in order. The enclave’s Jedi Council will then assess potential and previous training. All new transfers are given the rank of initiate within the enclave. As they demonstrate understanding and ability in the subjects of study, they are advanced. They would have to know the Jedi Code, the Jedi’s role in the galaxy, be able to use meditation techniques and so forth.
(( To join our guild, you have to do two things: first, create a website application. Click the recruitment button in the top menu or click this (link). There is a premade form you may fill out with accompanying instructions. They will be reviewed with care, always by several members. So, while we strive to have each application reviewed within a day’s time, it may take a little longer. If the application is approved, you will be told to find us for an interview “in character”. We only accept people that are interested in roleplaying according to Jedi lore. All recruits are given the rank of initiate, regardless of background story. Only Jedi classes are recruited as main characters. Should your application be declined; the most important reasons will be given and we hope you’ll understand and respect our decision. ))
Advancement along The Jedi Path: An initiate will advance to the point where the enclave’s grand master sends them to be judged by the Jedi Order’s Battlemaster in their understanding and their aptitude for blade combat. The Battlemaster may judge the initiate ready to be taken as a padawan, continuing his or her path. Padawans are given instruction by their respective masters. The teachers of the enclave, Jedi Knights and Jedi Masters prepare their padawans for their knight trials which take place on Tython as well as other worlds in the galaxy. Knights and Masters have greater access to the archives and are allowed to leave Tython. They are called upon to undertake missions for the good of the enclave, the Jedi Order, the Republic and the galaxy as a whole.
(( Each member starts as initiate and must acquire the knowledge and skills in the archives labeled initiate materials. After this they are sent to the battlemaster of the order to be tested. If the initiate passes, they maybe taken as a padawan. A padawan would have to acquire the knowledge and skill in the archives labeled padawan materials and so on. It is important you have mastered all of your current rank before advancing, because you must know these things well enough to teach them. Each padawan is assigned to a knight or master, who prepares them for Knight trials. If they pass all these, they can take padawans of their own. As you progress the accent will shift more and more towards story RP. ))
Off the Jedi Path: Much like the Jedi Order itself, our Enclave has its known allies and enemies, sources and resources. Aside from its own members, it has a network of informants, independent contractors and other known individuals. Where Enclave members may be relied upon to serve the Jedi Code and its tenets, the same cannot be said for the freelancers, mercenaries and other shady individuals. Depending on their character, they may be relied on to perform certain tasks or provide information that is otherwise unobtainable.
(( All members have one main character or “main”. Alternative characters or “alts” are welcome in our guild. They can be used to enrich RP by introducing new characters, to be part of background stories and support events. Or they can just be used to level and experience PvP and PvE content. Alts, unlike mains, are not trained to RP Jedi, since that would be a duplication of effort. All alts are tagged as such. ))
The Path of the Sith: Per request from the Jedi High Council, our enclave undertakes missions to oppose those that cling to the dark side of the Force. The enclave’s Jedi Council is aware of a number of factions within the empire and keeps a close eye on one that appears to be gaining ground.
(( Our guild has a daughter guild in the Imperial faction called The Path of the Sith. This guild exists to keep in touch while playing imperial characters and to house characters that are needed for cross-faction RP. While this guild can be used to RP on the imperial side, keep in mind that we’re a republic RP community; that is where the focus of our RP will be. That in mind the imperial guild does not feature a path of advancement, since these are all alts. ))
